MSP Video Marketing

Text tells a prospect what you know. Video shows them who you are. A business owner deciding between three MSPs with near-identical service pages will remember the one whose owner or lead tech they actually saw talk through a real problem. Video compresses trust-building that would otherwise take months of touchpoints into a two-minute watch.

This isn't about becoming a content creator. It's about using the cheapest, most durable trust signal available, your own face and voice explaining something useful, and placing it where it does double duty: on your website for consideration-stage visitors, and on YouTube or LinkedIn where it can also get found by search.

Where Video Fits That Nothing Else Does

Content marketing and organic social both cover written and photo-based posting. Video is a distinct medium, not a repackaging of those, because it's the only format that lets a stranger hear your tone and watch your face before they've ever spoken to you. That's a Get Trusted outcome (see Get Trusted) delivered during the Get Found stage, before they've landed on your site at all.

Two Formats Worth Your Time

Short-form (60-90 seconds): A single tip, a quick take on a security headline, or a "here's what I saw at a client this week" clip, posted natively to LinkedIn or as a YouTube Short. These are for staying top-of-mind with people who already know you exist.

Long-form (5-10 minutes): A screen-recorded walkthrough of a common problem ("Why your Windows updates keep failing" or "What a ransomware attack actually looks like on your desktop"), uploaded to YouTube with a real title and description. These get found in search months after you publish them, and they're the format worth embedding directly on a service page.

TOOLS CAN HELP WITH THIS

Free video production tools exist to help with this. Book a free call with us to see what we recommend for your MSP.

You Don't Need Production Value

A phone camera, a quiet room, and decent lighting from a window is enough. Prospects trust unpolished, in-focus video more than a scripted, overly produced one, it reads as authentic rather than as an ad. What kills a video isn't low production value, it's bad audio. Invest the $30 in a clip-on lavalier microphone before you invest in anything else.

FOR MSP OWNERS SPECIFICALLY

If being on camera yourself is a hard no, put your most personable technician in front of it instead. Buyers aren't evaluating your on-camera presence, they're evaluating whether the person explaining the problem sounds like someone who actually fixes it for a living.

Actionable Video Basics

  1. Record one long-form video answering your single most-asked client question. That question already has proven demand, it's the easiest topic to not overthink.
  2. Embed it on the matching service page. A visitor who watches even 30 seconds of you explaining a topic converts at a meaningfully higher rate than one who only reads text.
  3. Clip one short-form moment out of it. Every long-form video contains a 60-second segment that works as a standalone post, find it and publish it separately.

Consistency matters more than volume here too. One well-made video a month, embedded and shared everywhere it's relevant, outperforms a burst of ten videos posted once and abandoned.

Workbook: Try This Now

Plan your first video before you press record

Video is the format that builds trust fastest with a prospect who doesn't know you yet — they see and hear a real person, not a logo. The barrier isn't production quality; it's knowing what to say and committing to say it.
